Malente! – DC Interview!

Malente. Everyone who knows there music knows that name! He’s been around forever and always keeping in front of the rest. A man who’s inspiration never seems to run out and has repeatedly been Germans Favorite DJ of the year in his genre. The very busy man got time to get in contact with us for an interview. We feel more than honored to introduce one of the biggest name to bless this little blog, MALENTE!

1. You’ve been known to change your sound slightly to keep up with the times and we love you for it, how do you know what sounds are going to be massive next and have you ever found it hard?

I Love Music, I love the inspiration and I love to find new and exciting stuff. It’s just boring to always repeat yourself only because your last one was “successful”.

2. We all know you love Australia and work on remixes for The Aston Shuffle, when are you coming back down under and is there a future collaboration in the works for you guys?

i’ve always been in Australia once ayear for the last 6 years and i will be back in 2011. Just not sure when exactly this time. It alwys depends on the offers that i get and festivals that are interested. I wanted to collaborate on one of the tracks for their album, but haven’t found the time yet. Maybe it’s too late already… but even if. We’ll for sure do stuff together again in the future.

3. You play sets from the local club to world wide festivals.. In your opinion, is there a big difference from playing a club set and a festival set and how do you prepare? any pre set rituals?
No rituals. If it’s huge i get nervous. In the small clubs you can play a bit more eclectic and broken on some festivals you have to play 4/4. But on the good ones you don’t have to. festival sets start with an intro and end with a hit record. club sets don’t necessarily do.

4. Has there been a song of the years that has found its way into your sets each and every week and what song of yours has been getting the crowd bumping more that the others lately?

I play Roman Flügel – Geht’s Noch in an edit i made from time to time. Also in the first malente&dex djmix we did there are some old gems:

MALENTE&DEX (Dj-Mix) for EXPLOITED Records Podcast.
A lot of my productions get the crowd bumping when i play. recently “Habibi” of course, but also some soon to come releases like Moston & Malente “I Go Round” and Malente vs Azzido da Bass – “Hunting”

7. Besides a massive year for yourself who would you say will have a massive 2010 and we should be on the look out for them?

There are tons of great acts. to name a few wouldn’t be fair. just find your own faves and don’t belive what other people say. just trust in YOUR ears.

8. finally, what advice would you give to the youngsters out there trying to become the next Malente?
do what you love. don’t get into it because you think you can make a living out of it.
